Pretty Boy Floyd by split decision.
Yesterday was presented at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas the awaited WBO Junior Middleweight championship fight between Oscar De la Hoya and Floyd Mayweather jr. The fight was not as exciting as it promised in part because Mayweather used his defensive elusiveness and speed on the outside to register the win.
According to the three judges, Pretty Boy Floyd did just enough to win the bout. Two judges gave the advantage to Mayweather by 116-112 and 115-113 as a third one gave the victory to De la Hoya by 115-113. With this title, Mayweather wins a world championship in a 5th different weight class.
After the fight, Mayweather said to Larry Merchant that he could retire, still undefeated, but also said to ESPN that if De la Hoya wanted a rematch he could grant that rematch. I think that we could see a rematch. De la Hoya was probably the best opponent that Pretty Boy Floyd faced in his career. Oscar should logically ask for revenge and have another shot at Mayweather and his perfect record.
