Now that's an exhibition!
The ATP tour had a great idea for yesterday's exhibition match between the two best tennis players on the planet: Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.
The match itself for the exhibition was played on a interesting half clay, half grass surface on the other side.
The event gave a spectacular match between the two top players as Nadal edged Federer at the 3rd set tie-breaker 7-5, 4-6 and 7-6 (12-10). Tennis has once again pushed the borders of their sport as they already did over the years. The memorable battle of the sexes about thirty years ago for example was another daring exhibition that ended being a great move for the sport.
The mixed court used yesterday is another interesting twist to tennis that at least has the merit of being entertaining. There is no way anything like this could be implemented soon as a standard court but for the benefit of fun and for the present moment it sure lures new people into showing interest in tennis and it's performers. Great promotion work.
Two thumb up to the ATP tour.
