Eastern conference race.
Tonight in New-York could be a decisive night for the Eastern conference playoff race. The Montreal Canadiens plays the New-York Rangers and the Toronto Maple Leafs plays the New-York Islanders. The four teams are still hoping to end up at least 8th. Will everything be over after tonight or will we need the ultimate game saturday at the Air Canada centre on saturday night?
Remember that if the Leafs and Habs both wins tonight, there is a still slim possibility with another Rangers loss on their 82nd game that both canadian teams be in the playoffs, the game would have to go all the way to the overtime period to give both canadian teams at least 1 point. Same story for Tampa, should they lose both of their remaining games in regulation. Even still mathematically alive, the Islanders are only theorically still alive.
