The Montreal Canadiens have kept ''the pedal to the metal'' tonight at the Bell centre and defeated the Boston Bruins 2-0.

Team captain Saku Koivu scored the only two goals of the game. That was enough to pick up the 2 points. Goaltender Jaroslav Halak did well when needed but had an easy night, he picked up his 2nd NHL shutout with Montreal.

Koivu has scored the last three Montreal goals. Everybody is pushing the same way. One night it's one hero, the other night it's a different. Kovalev, Koivu, Plekanec, Latendresse, Komisarek, Markov, Souray and Halak, every player finds a way to keep this team going forward. Also with tonight's results, the defending Stanley cup champions Carolina Hurricanes are eliminated from the playoffs.

So now the two 2006 finalists will not even be in the playoffs this year. Hard to stay at the top!
