Lucian Bute retains the IBF super-middleweight championship.

Tonight at the Bell centre in Montreal, around 14 000 boxing fans were present for the fight between Lucian Bute (22-0-0 18 KOs) who was defending his IBF super-middleweight title against William Joppy (39-5-1, 30 KOs), a veteran fighter at his 15th world championship bout in career.

The champion was well prepared for the fight and never gave a chance to the challenger. Lucian Bute clearly won every round with meticulous offensive work and a sound defense. William Joppy was only able to hit the champion with solid punches a couple of times. But most of the time, Lucian Bute was delivering the shots to the head at a regular pace.

As the fight went on, the champion continued to increase his pace while his 37-year-old opponent had to work very hard to register a single punch on target.

The crowd roared and jumped on it's feet at the end of the 9th round when the champion sent William Joppy to the canvas with a barrage of shots.

Lucian Bute ended the fight during the 10th round with another barrage of shots. The challenger went to the canvas twice during the round, the second time was enough for Joppy who signaled to referee Marlon B. Wright that he had enough. The referee stopped the bout giving the TKO victory to Lucian Bute.

Lucian Bute keeps his immaculate pro record with his 22nd victory in career while Joppy suffers a loss for the 5th time in his career. This is only the 2nd KO defeat in career for Joppy.

What if the earth came from an oyster?

The non-scientific world came up with a shocking conclusion this week. Without any serious proof and based on a single picture grabbed somewhere on the internet, a group of lazy and ignorant people came to this conclusion: The planet earth came from a giant space oyster.

The conclusion was rejected by the scientific world because they have never located any giant oyster in space.

But the space oyster believers still claim that the proof is out there, while broadcasting ''ad nauseam'' the shocking earth-creating oyster picture as a solid and tangible proof of the earth's creation.

On a more serious note, a website called ''Be Oyster Aware'' is providing a great source of information about those delicious mollusks.

On the site, we can find many great oysters recipes and an extensive report on the Vibrio vulnificus bacteria contained in some oysters. The bacteria can be dangerous for people with liver diseases, diabetes or cancer. Those people are at risk in front of the bacteria especially because of the weakness of their own immune system. But in fact, the bacteria is totally inoffensive to normally healthy people.

Gulf oysters processors have developped new technologies to ensure safer alternatives to raw oyster eaters. The process includes individual quick freezing (IQF), low heat pasteurization or heat cool pasteurization (HCP) and high-hydrostatic pressure (HHP). With these processes, the raw oyster eaters can eat as many raw oysters as they want without any risk of contamination from the vibrio vulnificus bacteria.

All the details about this new technique and many more can be found on the www.Beoysteraware.com website. So if you are an oyster eater, you will find this site very interesting.

A victory with a taste of deception.

The Montreal Canadiens were hosting the Atlanta Trashers tonight at the Bell centre. The Trashers have sent Marian Hossa to Pittsburgh before the trade deadline today. The Trashers have received Colby Armstrong, Erik Christensen, Angelo Esposito and a 2009 first round draft pick. A big trade for the Penguins.

The star player was interesting for Montreal but General Manager Bob Gainey wasn't able to convince Atlanta's GM, Don Waddell. The only move made by Gainey today was to send goaltender Christobal Huet to the Washington Capitals for a 2009 2nd round draft pick.

The fans' wish to improove the team thru a trade before the deadline today was never granted. Many fans believes that the Canadiens did not get enough in return for Huet and should've kept the goaltender for the remaining portion of the season.

The Canadiens played a good game versus the Trashers, winning by the score of 5-1. The winning surge for Montreal came during the third period. Montreal scored a total of four goals in the final frame. Christopher Higgins scored twice to break the 1-1 tie before preparing another Montreal goal from Andrei Markov. The young Sergei Kostitsyn completed the scoring with his 7th goal of the season.

Higgins with the three points durng thr 3rd period was declared the game's first star. For Carey Price, it is now obvious that he was chosen to be the number one goaltender of the franchise. He blocked 26 of the 27 shots from Atlanta.

NHL trade deadline.

Today marks the trade deadline for the 30 NHL teams. A few good transactions have been made already today and the teams have until 3:00 PM to complete a trade for this season.

Here are the most important player movement this far today:

The Tampa Bay Lightning traded forward Brad Richards and goaltender Johan Holmqvist to the Dallas Stars for two forwards, Jussi Jokinen and Jeff Halpern and goaltender Mike Smith.

The Philadelphia Flyers traded defensemen Alexandre Picard and a 2009 second round draft pick to the Tampa Bay Lightning for forward Vaclav Prospal.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have sent Sergei Fedorov to the Washington Capitals for a future comprnsation. The Jackets also traded Adam Foote to the Colorado Avalanche for a future compensation.

The Chicago Blackhawks taded forward Martin Lapointe to the Ottawa Senators for a 2009 6th round draft pick.

The Montreal Canadiens traded goaltender Christobal Huet to the Washington Capitals for a 2009 2nd round draft pick.

Just before the deadline, the Atlanta Thrashers have sent forward Marian Hossa to the Pittsburgh Penguins. A very good acquisition for the Penguins.

The retirement of number 23.

Tonight before the game between the Montreal Canadiens and the Columbus Blue Jackets, the number 23 worn by Bob Gainey will be raised to the roof of the Bell centre.

This will be the 14th jersey retirement in the history of the club. Gainey's number 23 will join the number 9 of Maurice Richard, the number 11 of Guy Lafleur and the number 4 of Jean Beliveau only to name those.

In opposition with the other great players who had their jersey retired, Bob Gainey was not an illustrious goal scorer during his career. His defensive talents and efficiency, his ability to play even injuried, marked his career with the Canadiens.

The National Hockey League instituted the Frank Selke trophy in 1978, a trophy awarded to the forward who demonstrates the most skill in the defensive component of the game. Bob Gainey has won the Frank Selke trophy four years in a row, in 1978, 1979, 1980 and 1981.

Bob Gainey will most probably have a thought for his ex-teammates during the jersey retirement ceremony. One of his main focus as a player, and now as the General Manager of the club, is about team work. Bob Gainey was a strong team player back then and he still believes in the team concept as an important aspect of the game today. For Gainey, nobody can win the Stanley cup by himself.

The personal life of Bob Gainey has also been marked by great tragidies. In 1995, his own wife lost her battle with a brain cancer and more recently in december of 2006, his daughter, Laura Gainey, was lost in the Atlantic ocean when she was swept overboard of a ship during a storm.

As for tonight's game against the Blue Jackets, head coach Guy Carbonneau will send rookie goaltender Carey Price in the net.

End of the winning streak.

The Montreal Canadiens hosted the Pitsburgh Penguins without Sidney Crosby yesterday at the Bell centre. The Habs' winning streak ended at four games with a 5-4 loss.

Montreal did come back from a deficit of 1-3 to take a 4-3 lead but Pittsburgh finished the third period with a pair of goals to take away the victory. Evgeni Malkin with a goal and two assists is now leading the NHL in scoring with 82 points. Malkin has really stepped up his game level for the Penguins since Crosby's injury.

Pittsburgh tied Montreal in the standings with 75 points this season.

Christobal Huet had an ordinary game in net for Montreal. With a better performance from him, Montreal would've collected another victory.

The Columbus Blue Jackets will play the Canadiens at the Bell centre next saturday.

Historical comeback.

The Montreal Canadiens came back to win from an 0-5 deficit yesterday for the first time in the team's rich history. An incredible comeback to the delight of the fans gathered at the Bell centre in Montreal.

After allowing five consecutive goals to the New-York Rangers, the home team rallied back to finally win the contest by the score of 6-5.

The comeback story began with Michael Ryder who scored two goals during the second period to really give the team some momentum and the crowd something to cheer about. Ryder has finally found a way to shake off his awful season. But the team was still down 2-5 after 40 minutes of play.

In the third period, two goals in a nine second span revived the Canadiens fans' hopes. Alex Kovalev with his 28th of the season followed by Mark Streit's 10th of the campaign really increased the noise level in the building. The team was only a single goal from tying the game.

A state of euphoria was triggered in the building by Alex Kovalev's 29th of the season, his second goal of the game, with less than five minutes to play in regulation.

I had to pinch myself to really believe what I have seen. The five consecutive goals from the Rangers early into the matchup were matched by five consecutive goals from the Habs before the end of regulation.

A frantic overtime period gave some exciting scoring chances at both ends but without any result. A shootout session was required to declare a winner.

Saku Koivu with a nice deke was the only player to beat goaltender Henrik Lundqvist during the shootout while goaltender Christobal Huet, who came in relief for Carey Price after the Rangers' third goal of the game, stopped all three Rangers attempts.

Despite the loss, Jaromir Jagr finished the evening with four assists on the first four Rangers goals.

Against all odds, the Canadiens are still tied with the Ottawa Senators in first place in the Eastern conference, both teams have 75 points.

No confession.

Today in front of many press members, Eric Gagné, a relief pitcher of the Milwaukee Brewers has apologized to his family members and teammates for the distractions he caused regarding the Mitchell report.

The 32-years-old relief pitcher has given a list of apologies but did not answer to any questions from the members of the press gathered around him. Gagné said that he was happy that Major League Baseball was trying to eradicate the use of drugs from the players.

The apologies from Eric Gagné are in a way a disguised confession. With his apologies, he almost said that he used growth hormones without saying it.

Over 80 names of Major League Baseball players have been mentionned in the Mitchell report and the name of Eric Gagné is present in the now famous report.

Habs sweep the Flyers.

The Montreal Canadiens defeated the Philadelphia Flyers for a second time in a row this weekend, this time by the score of 5-3 at the Wachovia Centre in Philadelphia.

The first goal of the game was scored by Alex Kovalev, his 27th of the season. The first line for the Canadiens is still producing at will.

The Flyers replied to this goal as they were killing a penalty. Mike Richards registered his 5th shorthanded goal of the season already, Richards leads the league in this department.

The Habs defensemen Francis Bouillon scored his very first goal of the season with only one second to play in the first period to give a one goal lead to the Habs at the break.

After the tying goal from the Flyers, a goal from Braydon Coburn, Montreal added two more goals during the second period thru Michael Ryder and Saku Koivu. Both Montreal players broke their respective scoreless slump. Ryder with only his 9th goal of the season, Koivu with his 11th.

Both teams exchanged a goal late into the third period. With the win, Montreal gets even on points with the Ottawa Senators on top of the Eastern conference. Both teams have 73 points this far this season.

For Philadelphia, the fall is hurting their chances to make the playoffs. The Flyers have now lost their last seven games in a row and are now only one point away from being out of the playoff picture.

On the other side, Montreal consolidate their position in the conference with the sweeping of the Flyers.

First NHL career shutout for Carey Price.

The Montreal Canadiens and the Philadelphia Flyers were playing the first game of their mini-series tonight at the Bell centre in Montreal.

Montreal's rookie goaltender Carey Price played a flawless game and registered his first NHL shutout in career. The goaltender kept his best saves for the third period as the Flyers applied a lot of pressure on the Canadiens' defense. Price stopped the 34 shots from the Flyers offense tonight.

Despite the offensive efforts deployed by both teams tonight, only a single goal was scored in the game. Andrei Kostitsyn on a Alex Kovalev pass went alone with Flyers' netminder Antero Niittymaki who stopped the initial shot. But Kostitsyn took control of the rebound and twisted himself to send the puck in the net ''à la Ovechkin''. A spectacular goal that we will see in this week's highlight reel.

Final score: Montreal Canadiens 1 - Philadelphia Flyers 0

The intensity level deployed tonight by both teams was matching the intensity level of a playoff game. We saw a lot of pushing and shoving in front of the nets after the referee whistles and some bone crunching hits along the boards.

Both teams will meet again tomorrow evening at the Wachovia Centre in Philadelphia.

The Habs-Flyers mini-series.

This weekend, the Montreal Canadiens and the Philadelphia Flyers will face each other twice in two nights. Both teams have similar records this far in 07-08.

If we take a look at the standings, both teams are only four points apart from each other. A sweep of the mini-series from either of those two teams can make a huge difference in this last stretch of the season.

4-Montreal Canadiens 69
5-New-Jersey Devils 68
6-Philadelphia Flyers 65
7-Buffalo Sabres 64

For the first game of this mini-series, rookie goaltender Carey Price will start in net for Montreal. A second game in a row for him after giving a respectable performance to beat the Florida Panthers last wednesday.

The first game of the mini-series is scheduled tomorrow evening at the Bell centre in Montreal. A capacity crowd, (once again) will give a loud cheer for the home team. Both teams have built a strong rivalry since the Flyers joined the league and fans from both sides are nourishing their hate for each other since a few decades already. An entertaining offensive game is expected.

For the Flyers, a bad news came this week as forward Simon Gagné will not be able to play due to a concussion. This is not good news because Gagné has had other concussions during his career. Gagné will surely recover before the end of the regular season but his career at this stage will likely be shortened because of the repeated concussions. Simon Gagné only played 25 games this season.

Villeneuve and Carpentier miss their date with the Daytona 500.

Today was the last chance for both Jacques Vileneuve and Patrick Carpentier to qualify for the first race of the 2008 NASCAR season, the Daytona 500.

During the second heat where only the top two drivers were qualified for the race, Jacques Villeneuve has lost control of his car and crashed during the 15th lap, eliminating himself.

As for Patrick Carpentier, he managed to stay in the race longer than Villeneuve but lost contact with the leading pack late in the heat. As he was desperatly pushing his car, Carpentier collided with the outside wall with only three laps to go.

I liked the chances of Patrick Carpentier. I honestly thought that he would be able to bring his car in the top two today. His lap times were very good in general all weekend long.

Both french canadian drivers will have to try to qualify themselves for the next race of the season in Fontana.

Where to buy medication online?

There are numerous medical sites on the internet that are selling all kinds of medication. In many cases, the only available products on those sites are generic drugs or even very low quality products.

Sometimes, you can find some brand name products but the price tag is just not reasonnable. In some other cases, you have no idea of the historical background of the site or don't even know if it will still exist in a couple of months from now.

This is where Edrugstore.md beats the online competition. The site has been trusted by thousands and has been online for the last eight years. Edrugstore.md litterally acts as an online pharmacy.

Not only you can find brand name products, (in fact they don't even sell generic drugs) but you can also have access to a number of articles about the different products available. If you have more specific questions about those brand name products, a section called ''Ask a physician'' can answer to a multitude of questions. If your question is still not answered, you can submit your own question yourself and a physician will answer you personally.

Edrugstore.md also guarantees the lowest prices on brand name drugs. You will not find a more complete site around. Only brand name products are offered, guaranteed low prices and a direct access to a physician.

Compare the prices and the quality of the products with the competition and you will come back to Edrugstore.md in a hurry.

Ugly win.

The Montreal Canadiens snapped their three-game losing streak yesterday with a 2-1 overtime victory over the Florida Panthers.

After a goal from Steve Montador during the first period, the Panthers tried to protect their slim 1-0 lead.

The Canadiens did not look very good for 50 minutes, unable to beat goaltender Tomas Vokoun for the major part of the game.

A bouncing puck that got away from Vokoun allowed Christopher Higgins to push it in the net, tying the game at 1-1. A very fortunate turn of events for Montreal who didn't look very good at all.

Alex Kovalev scored the game-winner for Montreal during a 4-on-3 power play. Kovalev's shot went thru a defensemen legs and beated Tomas Vokoun.

Montreal will play the Philadelphia Flyers twice in a row on saturday and sunday.

Spielberg says no to the Beijing Olympic Games.

With less than six months to go to the opening ceremony of the 2008 Olympic Games, Steven Spielberg has decided to retire his contribution to the opening and closing ceremonies of the games.

Spielberg is unhappy with China's inaction in the Darfour area and has decided to retire himself in protest. The famous producer had warned China's International Olympic Committee a few months ago already and decided to take action this week.

The IOC tried to minimize this decision today. They classified Spielberg's decision as a ''personnal decision''. There is no mention about Spielberg's decision in any Chinese national news source of course. China is known to censor anything bad about their country or the upcoming Olympic Games. Any critic is simply censored.

The Human Rights Watch organization salutes Spielberg's decision and urges any sponsor, any national Olympic Committee and any government to increase their pressure on the chinese regime. The organization also want China to improove their human rights policy.

China remains the biggest prison for human rights and freedom to speech activists and journalists. In China, at least thirty journalists are held in prison for using their freedom of speech rights in 2008.

The Beijing Olympic Games are to be held from August 8th to 24th 2008.

How about a romantic getaway?

A few years ago, I have decided to surprize my girlfriend and organized a short romantic weekend getaway in New York city.

She had no idea about the getaway until we left for the weekend. All I told her was: ''Prepare yourself a bag for the weekend. We are going out for the entire weekend my love.''

So we left Montreal in my car and headed south. We didn't stop until we got to New York. Well, we did stop once at the U.S./Canada border of course... :)

At the border, my girlfriend asked me: ''Where in the hell are we going?'' I had no choice but to tell her about our destination. She was pleased by the idea because she never had the chance to visit New York city in her life.

We had an awesome weekend in the big apple. The getaway was not perfect because I am not an expert as a New York city tours organizer but we managed to visit many interesting tourist-friendly detinations during our getaway weekend.

If you have any romantic vacation ideas yourself, I urge you to visit the Trusted Tours & Attractions website.

Tampa extends Montreal's losing streak.

One of the worse team of the Eastern conference this season, the Tampa Bay Lightning, extended Montreal's current losing streak tonight with a 3-2 win.

The Montreal Canadiens began the match very well when Christopher Higgins scored the first goal of the game only 50 seconds into the first period. The team briefly looked like it was able to snap out of the current losing streak.

But the generosity of goaltender Christobal Huet kept the Lightning in the game. First a very bad rebound on a soft shot was given by the goaltender allowing Michel Ouellet to open the score for Tampa.

A great play from Mark Streit allowed Tomas Plekanec to score his 21st goal of the season, sending Montreal ahead in the game once again. But a harmless shot from Vaclav Prospal during the final minute of the first period went past Huet, tying the game at 2-2 after one period.

Tampa took the control of the game from the second period on registering 27 shots on Montreal's net during the last two periods of the game while the Canadiens only managed to shoot 12 times on Kari Ramo's net.

Vaclav Prospal scored his second goal of the game halfway into the third period, sealing the victory for Tampa Bay. The Canadiens were never able to answer back with a goal of their own until the end.

Montreal has now lost three games in a row and there is no rest in sight for them. The Canadiens will play the Florida Panthers tomorrow evening.

At this point into the season, a long losing streak will drag the team down in the standings. The team just a week ago looked like it would qualify easily into the playoffs. Now, they are only a couple of losses away from being out of playoff contention.

A purse, a cellphone and a hockey player.

Yesterday night at the rookie dinner of the Montreal Canadiens on the road in Tampa, the evening ended with the police on the front porch of the restaurant.

The whole story involves rookie defensemen Ryan O'Byrne, and a woman who was present at the restaurant claiming to have been robbed of her purse and cell phone.

O'Byrne and the lady most probably shared some time into the restaurant during the evening because O'Byrne was found waiting on the front porch in possession of the purse and cell phone. Even when the police asked O'Byrne about the owner of the purse he answered it was his girlfriend's.

But O'Byrne was never able to name her when asked by the police. The police proceeded and arrested the rookie player. Many players protested, and Tom Kostopoulos went a little too far and was also arrested by the police.

Ryan O'Byrne had to pay $2000 to bail out while Tom Kostopoulos had to hand out $500 to get out of jail.

The whole story is unusual and strange. We have a hockey player presumely robbing a purse and a cellphone but not fleeing the ''crime scene''.

The whole thing is a distraction in itself. The kind of story going on when a team experiences a losing streak. The Canadiens' losing streak shows 2 before the two games to be played in Florida.

The Habs will be tested by the Tampa Bay Lightning first, tomorrow evening. The Florida Panthers on wednesday will pick up the remains should Tampa defeat the Canadiens tuesday.

No contest.

The Montreal Canadiens felt the power of the first offensive line of the Ottawa Senators yesterday in a 6-1 loss.

The line of Daniel Alfredsson, Dany Heatley and Jason Spezza dominated the Habs at will. Jason Spezza participated to every Ottawa goal. When the game finally ended, Spezza had registered three goals and three assists, Alfredsson had collected five points and Heatley, four points.

Yes, 15 points from the Ottawa top line in a single game...

The Senators did not waste any time as they scored their initial goal only 22 seconds into the game. After only four minutes of play, the score was already at 3-0 in favor of Ottawa.

The Senators avenged their loss in Montreal on tuesday with a bang and secured their first place of the Eastern conference. Montreal now stands five points behind the Sens.

The Kostitsyn brothers avoided Montreal to be shut out during the third period when Andrei Kostitsyn pushed a beautiful pass from his brother Sergei into Ray Emery's net.

The Canadiens will try to shake off this loss as they will play the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Florida Panthers on next tuesday and wednesday.

A different Ottawa team.

Tonight in Ottawa, the Montreal Canadiens will face the Ottawa Senators for the second time this week.

Montreal managed to defeat the Senators by 4-3 last tuesday in Montreal but tonight the Senators will present a better opposition. Dany Heatley and Daniel Alfredsson, two of Ottawa's prime offensive weapons will be in the lineup after recovering from injuries.

Heatley came back in action on thursday and scored two goals while Alfredsson will be back in Ottawa's lineup tonight. Both of these players are very important for Ottawa who struggled a bit during their absence.

Montreal stands only three points behind Ottawa before tonight's game and will have to play a perfect game to win. The Canadiens will practically have no margin for error tonight. Just a little letdown and the team will suffer a loss.

In a very disputed Eastern conference standings, the Canadiens should be very careful and avoid an important losing streak right now. Montreal can slip from the 4th position to the 7th place in a matter of a few games. This is really a bad time to begin a long losing streak.

If Montreal wants to avoid problems, they have to play a perfect game tonight and find a way to defeat the Senators. But the Senators have the 4-3 loss fresh in their memory and will want to avenge tuesday's loss.

Tonight's game should be filled with action and intensity.

Harvick's declarations won't affect Patrick Carpentier.

With less than two weeks before the presentation of the prestigious Daytona 500, Kevin Harvick stated that open wheel drivers like Jacques Villeneuve and Patrick Carpentier will have a tough time during the 2008 NASCAR season.

Harvick is probably right about Villeneuve who does not have an extensive experience and success in stock car racing in career. His dedication and time spent to racing lately has been splitted with his personal life as he now also takes care of his son. (Let's forget his musical performances on his late album, please!)

But as far as Patrick Carpentier is concerned, I think that he has a natural talent for oval track racing. Many of his victories in career came on oval circuits. Carpentier has a story of being very efficient to communicate with his engineers about the optimal limits of his car. If his car has some in the belly, he will be able to exploit it on occasions in 2008.

Kevin Harvick will find in Carpentier a very fast and intelligent driver once 2008 is over. Harvick should forget about Carpentier and mind his own business in a word.

I expect a respectable season for Patrick Carpentier at his first shot at NASCAR racing. He might open some eyes in a couple of races during this 2008 season. Every finishes inside the top 20 will count.

Don't worry, be happy!

We interact with dozens of people everyday, some are clients, some other are our neighbors, we also interact with our rivals and competitors. We also interact with total strangers each and every day.

Each and everyone of us cross path with angry people, unhappy people. Some of them let their everyday problems affect their general humor. There are others who constantly look unhappy or angry. We can apply this principle to any layer of the society.

In the NHL, I bet that Chris Simon could learn a thing or two by working on himself a bit. His level of anger on the ice has become dangerous for other players forcing the league to ban him for one third of the current season.

THIS is for those who want to stop seeing life for it's bad sides and start looking on the bright side. I personally know people that should work on their natural happiness level. Every aspect of their lives would be changed with only little work.

In many cases the way to happiness is only a matter of focusing on a few principles like beingness presence awareness.

Those three principles were the main focus of a recent retreat and coach training. Those principles are part of the happiness wave contained in The Sedona Method.

What is The Sedona Method? It is a motivational movement sweeping the planet. Actress Mariel Hemingway and the author Marci Shimoff love The Sedona Method. To complement this happiness wave, Marci Shimoff wrote a book called Happy for no reason.

Many other pieces were written as The Sedona Method has been spreaded since around 30 years already. A free CD and DVD can give you a great hint on the tone of the teachings. Other pieces concerning the four different life-changing courses within The Sedona Method are available.

Montreal lose to Toronto.

The Montreal Canadiens have lowered their guard just a bit and were defeated by 4-2 to a hungry Toronto Maple Leafs team at the Bell centre yesterday.

The home record for the Canadiens is still a problem as the team has not won two games in a row on their home ice since too long already. Tonight, Toronto was expected to rebound from a humiliating 0-8 loss to the Florida Panthers.

Head coach Guy Carbonneau has warned his team that the Leafs would be tough to play but even with the coache's warning, Toronto dominated most of the matchup. The only offensive production came from the red hot Montreal line as Tomas Plekanec with his 20th goal and Alex Kovalev on a Plekanec assist scored for Montreal. The other three offensive lines, modified before the second period by Carbonneau never clicked.

For tonight, Toronto can still hope that they have just begun a serious winning streak. The Leafs needs to bunch up wins right now to stay in the hunt. The goal scorers for Toronto were Kris Newbury (1st of the season), Darcy Tucker, Kyle Wellwood and again Tucker with his second of the night during the final minute in an empty net. Vesa Toskala played better as the game went on in net and made 34 saves on 36 shots.

Montreal's rookie 20-year old goaltender Carey Price, was back in NHL action after spending a few weeks in Hamilton. He wasn't impressive at all and could go back in the AHL another time if his next start is not a solid one, if he ever gets another this season...

The team surely understands that Price will not give enough to the team this season. I expect that Jaroslav Halak will be the second netminder behind Christobal Huet when the first round of the playoffs will open for Montreal.

Combined with a victory for the Ottawa Senators tonight, the Habs now stands three points behind Ottawa and both teams will face off on saturday evening. Dany Heatley was back in the lineup tonight for the Senators and registered two goals and an assist.

Saturday's game is a big one for both Ottawa and Montreal and I expect a great performance from Ottawa. If the Canadiens wants to stay within the leading pack of the Eastern conference, they have to play their best game of the season to steal two points in Ottawa saturday.

Force India enters the Formula One championship.

Today in Mumbai, India, was presented the VJM01, the first version of the Force India Formula One team race car.

Vijay Mallya, an Indian billionnaire and owner of the Force India F1 team, is very proud to be a part of the Formula One championship. The car as for it's technical aspects, is identical to the Spyker F1 race car that was competing on the circuit last season. The only difference is that the overall team budget increased from $70 Millions of last year to $120 Millions for the upcoming season.

A white base with gold sections are the main colors of the Force India F1 team race car. The main sponsor, Kingfisher, is an Indian airline company and a popular beer brand in India. Both of those companies are the property of Mr. Mallya himself.

Giancarlo Fisichella and Adrian Sutil will be the drivers for this next season while Vitantonio Liuzzi will act as the third driver for Force India. Both Fisichella and Sutil don't expect to rake in points at every grand prix.

Those drivers were chosen to help with the evolution of the car. The team's engineers need to learn more about the car in order to make it evolve in the right direction and according to Mr. Mallya those two drivers were carefully picked and were the best drivers available for the team.

The main objective for Vijay Mallya is to have a competitive car when India will host it's first grand prix in it's history in 2010. Mr. Mallya is also conscious that many Indians will follow the team's progression but they will have to be patient and shouldn't expect great results right off the bat.

One point away from first place.

The Montreal Canadiens hosted the first place Ottawa Senators yesterday evening at the Bell centre. The building was filled to capacity and the atmosphere was simply electric.

Ottawa striked first early into the game on Chris Kelly's 9th goal of the season. But after the early mistake, Montreal took the game into the Sens' defensive zone for the most part of the first two periods.

Andrei Kostitsyn tied the game on the power play with his 16th of the season followed by Tomas Plekanec's 18th of the season on a great feed from Alex Kovalev.

During the second period, Montreal kept the pressure on Ottawa. Goaltender Martin Gerber showed signs of weakness on a long shot by Mark Streit. Then Tomas Plekanec scored his second goal of the game and his 19th of the season on another gift from Gerber. Montreal led by 4-1 after two periods.

Ottawa did play a lot better during the third period and pulled themselves within a single goal with goals from Jason Spezza and Antoine Vermette. Christobal Huet closed the door for the rest of the game as he made a couple of big saves to prevent Ottawa from tying the game.

Final score: Montreal Canadiens 4 - Ottawa Senators 3.

The line of Tomas Plekanec (2 goals 1 assist), Alex Kovalev (3 assists) and Andrei Kostitsyn (1 goal 2 assists) were named the first three stars of the game.

Montreal pulled themselves within a single point of the Senators who are still holding on to the first place of the Eastern conference. Both teams will face once again on saturday and this time the first place could be at stake.

There is no such thing as perfection.

The New-York Giants have caused a huge commotion tonight as they defeated the New England Patriots and won Super Bowl XLII by the score of 17-14.

The Patriots were looking to complete a perfect 19-0 season by wrapping up the honors of Super Bowl XLII. But a late touchdown pass from Eli Manning to Plaxico Burress with under a minute to go in the fourth quarter clinched the upset for the Giants.

The Giants took the early first quarter lead with a 32-yard field goal from Lawrence Tynes. The lead held up until the second quarter when Laurence Maroney scored the first touchdown of the game for the Patriots with a 1-yard dash. The Pats led 7-3 at the half.

Both teams exchanged the lead three times during the fourth quarter. A new Super Bowl record. First, David Tyree caught a 11-yard touchdown pass from Eli Manning. The Giants were again on top by three points.

The Patriots answered with a great drive. Randy Moss catching a 6-yard touchedown pass from Tom Brady to give the Patriots their last lead of the game with just over two minutes to spare on the clock.

Eli Manning took the golden opportunity offered to him. He led his team all the way to the Patriots' end zone. A drive good for 12 plays and 83 yards.

The biggest play of the winning drive, sorry, the biggest play of Super Bowl XLII happened on a blown tackle from the Patriots defense on Eli Manning who scrambled out of the pocket and found David Tyree. Tyree made a spectacular catch to keep the drive alive. This play paved the way for Burress' winning touchdown catch.

Super Bowl XLII kept football fans on their toes all evening long. The Vince Lombardi trophy remains inside the Manning family after the championship won by Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts last year.

Eli Manning was also named the game MVP. He completed 19 of 34 passes for 255 yards. Good for two touchdown passes and one interception.

Congratulations to the New-York Giants, the Super Bowl XLII champions.

New-York (Rangers) wins on Super Bowl sunday.

At least one New-York team has won on Super Bowl sunday as the New-York Rangers worked on an impressive comeback to win by the score of 5-3 over the Montreal Canadiens.

A second matinee game in a row was scheduled at the Bell centre and once again it was a great occasion for the kids to attend to a NHL game with their parents. Many of them were proudly wearing their Canadiens jerseys.

The home team brought the crowd alive early on as Andrei Markov and Alex Kovalev scored during the first two power play opportunities for Montreal. Then, a goal on a penalty shot awarded to Sergei Kostitsyn gave a 3-0 lead to the Canadiens early into the second period.

But the Rangers completely turned the tables on the Canadiens after a soft goal to Michal Roszival awarded by goaltender Christobal Huet. The Rangers at the end registered five unanswered goals on a fading Montreal team. Brandon Dubinsky, Scott Gomez, Chris Drury and Martin Straka completed the scoring for the NYR.

Montreal passed on a great chance to get even closer to the Ottawa Senators in the standings. Ottawa is the next opponent for Montreal tuesday.

Habs wins at home.

During the Super Bowl weekend, the NHL usually schedules the Montreal Canadiens into matinee games. Today at the Bell centre, it was a great occasion for the younger kids to cheer for their favorite team, the Montreal Canadiens.

The New-York Islanders were the visitors in this one but they never were really able to match with the Habs’ offensive firepower.

Tomas Plekanec with his 17th goal of the season, opened the score for Montreal 37 seconds into the second period with a precise shot from a sharp angle over a kneeled Rick DiPietro in net for the Islanders.

After a tying goal from the Islanders, Montreal shifted to another gear. Mark Streit gave the Habs a definitive lead in the game on a great feed from Saku Koivu during a power play. Alex Kovalev added a third goal for Montreal during the second period with a great wrist shot thru a defensemen’s legs. Kovalev now has 23 goals on the season and already produced more points this season than during the entire 06-07 season.

Matthieu Dandenault with his 7th of the season late in the third period was the icing on the cake for the 21 273 fans attending the game.

In net, Christobal Huet stopped 29 of the 30 shots he faced.

Final score: Montreal Canadiens 4 - New-York Islanders 1.

The Canadiens since 1967 have a record of 37 wins, 16 losses and 6 ties during the Super Bowl weekend. The Habs will be in action in a pre-Super Bowl appetizer as they will play the New-York Rangers tomorrow afternoon.

Out of the way cop!

This is a short clip I have dug out of You Tube showing how dangerous the Rally races can be.

Usually for those events, the spectators are standing right by the track while the cars are running at full speed. I think that those people are very brave (or very unconscious) to stand there. Just a small slide or a small mistake from the driver and it can end up in a serious crash with the people standing there.

On this clip, we can see a police officer crossing the race track while Sebastien Loeb was coming at full throttle. Loeb missed the police officer by only a mere inch or two.

Guy Lafleur in court on February 7th.

Guy Lafleur have met the police on thursday morning and everything is now set for a trial. Lafleur’s trial will take place in Montreal and will begin on February 7th. The trial will take place in front of a judge and 12 members of a jury.

The story has already made headlines all over America and already different kinds of reactions from the public are coming from everywhere. Some are throwing the stones while some others remember Lafleur’s days of glory and are ready to forgive and forget.

Some will plea for a prison sentence, some others for a fine. A couple of others will plea for community work while others ask for a suspended sentence.

The police did not open a file of Guy Lafleur’s fingerprints to avoid difficulties if Lafleur was to cross the U.S. border after the story. This is in fact something worth thinking about. Was the police too soft on a person like Guy Lafleur? The case was big enough to issue an arrest warrant but not enough to file Lafleur’s fingerprints in the database. Where is the line? This smells like confusion to me.

The trial will start next week.

Big Bang World Record.

I have been tagged by MadTomatoe.com and I like the idea. I think it is a fun and easy way to kick off 2008 with some new links and readers for this blog. If you like the idea, feel free to join us!

*Start Copy Here*

You do not have to be tagged to play along. This game is simple and so are the rules.

1. Copy from *Start Copy Here* through *End Copy Here*

2. Add your site(s) to the list. Just be sure to post at each site you add.

3. Tag or don’t tag, your choice, however, the more tags you create the bigger the list will grow.

4. Let me know your blog’s name and url by leaving me a comment HERE. I will add you to the master list. (If you would like a scroll box code, leave me your email address and I will email it to you.) Scroll Box Example. (I decided not to use the box for the Big Bang for ease of copying.)

5. Come back and copy the master list back to your site, often. This process will allow late-comers to get as much link benefit as the first ones in. Once you are on the master list people who have participated earlier will update their bookmarks and help everyone lower than them out on the list.
