NHL 2007 playoffs: Vancouver-Dallas

(Roberto Luongo picture from HockeyBuzz.com by Josh Plummer)

First of all, this series should be a very entertaining one to watch. I wish they will broadcast this one here in Quebec. If it is on TV in your area, tune in.

First, the Vancouver Canucks completed one of their most impressive season in club history with their 105 points total. One of the reasons of this performance is because the Canucks have acquired this season the best goaltender on the planet: Roberto Luongo. I only have good words for Luongo, I have rarely seen a goaltender with that much regularity in my life. He is really one of the true talented in the likes of Brodeur and Patrick Roy. He had a 2.29 goal against average in 76 games in his first season as a Canuck...impressive. On top of this the Canucks have firepower. Daniel and Henrik Sedin, Markus Naslund and Brendan Morrison. The defense is also helping their attack with Kevin Bieksa and Sami Salo.

The Dallas Stars will be the first test for the Canucks...but a good one. Marty Turco is a talented goaltender so the Stars have a fighting chance if they play well enough to win. Turco kept a 2.23 goal against average in 67 games. On attack, this is another story... Their best point-man this season was Mike Ribeiro with 59 points. Ladislav Nagy, Jere Lehtinen, Sergei Zubov and Mike Modano will have to produce offensively to beat the powerful Canucks.

I put the Canucks well ahead as they should win this series in 5 games.
