A particular bout for Montreal.
For the first time on Quebec's pro boxing scene, two Montreal residents will fight each other for a world title.
Jean Pascal (22-1 15 KOs) will try to strip Adrian Diaconu (26-0 15 KOs) of his WBC light-heavyweight title on June 19th. The gala will of course take place at the Bell centre and will be jointly promoted by GYM (Groupe Yvon Michel) and Interbox.
Jean Pascal had his first taste at a world title shot a few months ago when he was defeated by the defending champion, Carl Froch. The bout became the first loss on Pascal's pro record.
But Jean Pascal's career seems to go forward even with this black spot on his record. When asked about this particular fight, the athlete declared that he learned a ton of things during this first career title shot.
The official announcement of this bout made the headlines all across the Province of Quebec and will become one of the most anticipated fight in the province's history. I like both athletes but I really prefer Jean Pascal's style. I am wishing him the best of luck for this anticipated bout.
