Must win situation.

The Montreal Canadiens are coming back home after playing the first two games of their first round series in Boston against the Boston Bruins.

The worse case scenario for Montreal was to come back in town being down 0-2 in the series. That it is exactly what happened.

At first, the Habs played a very competitive match Thursday but only to lose to the Bruins by the score of 4-2.

Yesterday for the second game of the series, Boston dominated a major portion of the game and chased goaltender Carey Price out of Montreal's net in a shining 5-1 victory. The only noticeable player for Montreal in this one was Alex Kovalev who scored the lone Canadiens goal and had a couple of glorious chances to score at least two more goals during the game.

The end of this second game was a rough one for Montreal. Jaroslav Halak had to finish the game in net in replacement of Price for the whole third period. Maxim Lapierre was also brutally attacked by Milan Lucic late into the game. Lucic gave Lapierre a taste of his lumber when he cross checked the Canadiens forward in the face.

Lucic was given a major penalty and a game misconduct for his actions and I think that a one-game suspension should be awarded to him by the NHL.

Once the dust has settled on those first two games of the series, the Canadiens' 100th season is now in nothing less than a must win situation. A loss in any of the next two games in Montreal and it will mark the final chapter of a horrible centennial season. The Habs must circle the wagons and fight with every bit of energy they have left to have a chance of defeating Boston and saving what's left of Bob Gainey's credibility.
