Hockey Canada under pressure.
The choice of Shane Doan as captain of Team Canada for the current World championships in Moscow will have to be justified in front of a committee at the parliament in Ottawa.
The parliament adopted unanimously a motion initiated by Gilles Duceppe from the Bloc quebecois to bring Hockey Canada in front of the counrty's official language committee. The events involving Shane Doan happened on december of 2005 in Montreal when after a match between the Montreal Canadiens and the Phoenix Coyotes. Doan apparently shouted racist comments to the french canadian referee while going back to his lockeroom. Doan always denied saying such a thing.
Gilles Duceppe justified such a decision as Team Canada is funded by federal funds from the get go and should be more responsible of it's actions and decisions.
