Denis Savard wins his first game as head coach.
The Chicago Blackhawks have named Denis Savard as their new coach earlier this week. Savard played a number of seasons in Chicago as a player and became an icon in the windy city with his memorable spinorama. Traded to Montreal later in his career, he won his only Stanley Cup in 1993 as a member of the Montreal Canadiens, then was traded back to Chicago to end his career as a player.
Chicago is trying to shake off their bad start this season by giving Savard his chance as head coach, a position that he wanted for a long time. At his first start as a head coach yesterday, he was successful as the Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Dallas Stars 2-1 with two 3rd period unanswered goals.
Congratulations and good luck Denis!
