Rookie registers a no-hitter.
Yesterday night, Clay Buchholz of the Boston Red Sox has registered a no-hitter at his second Major League Baseball start in career. He only allowed 3 bases on balls during the whole game in a 10-0 Boston Red Sox victory over the poor Baltimore Orioles.
The fact that Clay Buchholz, a 23-year-old pitcher managed to register a no-hitter at his second MLB start is indeed worth of mention but does not constitute a record itself. In 1953, Bobo Hollomon of the St-Louis Browns has registered a no-hitter at his very first MLB start in career.
And how about the Baltimore Orioles this season? This must be a dark season in Orioles history for sure. They already were at the wrong end of a 30-3 game last month. Yesterday they fell apart in front of a rookie pitcher even allowing him to register a no-hitter in the process.
Orioles fans, stay anonymous and don't forget to bring brown paper bags with you for your next visit at Camden Yards... :)
