Tragic death of Gaetan Duchesne.
Gaetan Duchesne, a 44-year-old ex NHL player died tragically at around 9:20 AM this morning as he was training, as he usually does, on a training bike in a gym of Quebec city.
The owner of the gym, Sylvie Dallaire said that Duchesne fell down from his bike, struck. She added that an employee immediatly attended to him to perform the reanimation procedures. The EMT were on the spot at 9:30 AM and also tried to reanimate the athlete, without positive results. Mme Dallaire knew Gaetan Duchesne since the last ten years. She said that he was an accomplished athlete and an adept of spinning training.
Gaetan Duchesne in his NHL career was drafted in 1981 by the Washington Capitals. He played for five NHL teams: the Washington Capitals, the Quebec Nordiques, the Minnesota North Stars, the San Jose Sharks and the Florida Panthers. He played 1028 games, an honorable plateau. He also scored 179 goals, 254 assists for 443 points during his NHL career.
His son Jeremy Duchesne is the No1 goaltender of the Val d'Or Foreurs, a junior team of the Quebec league. The Foreurs are implicated in the semifinal round of the league.
