The Ottawa Senators to the Stanley Cup final?
After watching all the teams in their different series and the way they played in the playoffs this far, I really think today that the Ottawa Senators can go to the Stanley Cup final. In the facts, Ottawa still needs to win 7 more games to get there. Unless two or three bad injuries hit them, or a total goaltending collapse, I think they will get there.
The four Ottawa offensive lines are well balanced and capable of scoring a big goal anytime. I think Ottawa's depth is superior to anyone around the NHL in speed, playmaking and toughness. Ottawa's third and fouth line players showed a glimpse of it in yesterday's 5-4 victory over the Devils: Dean McAmmond scored a shothanded goal and Mike Fisher, who didn't registered a point yesterday, was always first on the puck and delivering solid checks the moment he was on the ice.
Sure they have great talent up front on the first two lines: Alfredsson, Heatley and Spezza. And great defensemens with Preissing, Redden, Corvo and Volchenkov. But without depth in those 3rd and 4th lines it is hard to get to the finals. I think Ottawa at the moment have the best combination of four offensive lines of the Eastern conference and that is enough for them to go all the way to the finals.
I have never liked the Sens before but I am forced now to admit that they built a great team over the years.
So...do you agree or not? Does the Ottawa Senators have what it takes to go all the way?

Ottawa all the way!!! This team will bring the cup. I would rather like Montreal to do so, though I've been waiting 13 years now and ... sigh!
I really enjoy your blog, keep on the good work.
I really think Ottawa will get to the cup. Being an underdog sure has it's advantages. I'd want them to win the cup over any american team.
Sorry guys. Anaheim won it. :)
