Tootoo will sit out for 5 games.
Jordin Tootoo of the Nashville Predators has been suspended for 5 games by the NHL for hitting defensemen Stephane Robidas of the Dallas Stars. The suspension was well deserved but I would personnally have given a more severe suspension for this kind of dangerous agression.
As for the victim, he is still in hospital and is expected to miss at least one more week of action.

It was harder then berts.. he should have been gone for a lot more.
This is inspriing an immediate blog post. I really think that it wasn't that bad, if someone is going after to you with his hands up and pretty much touching you, you have to be able to defend yourself from the player doing something back.
I don't know how you can justify such an aggression. Robidas is not a dirty player and probably wanted to check him legally.
If Tootoo wants to throw punches: 1-he should take his gloves off.
2-he should not sucker punch and fight like a man, face to face.
I consider his action a lack of respect. That is my opinion and I respect yours.
Check him? It was away from the play. The only thing Robidas was going to do was outright punch him in the face for hitting the team's leader.
Robidas is not a dirty player but he's no tough guy.
People act as if these gloves are made of steel. Taking that punch gloves or no gloves will knock anyone out.
Fight like a man? It wasn't a sucker punch like the announcers said. It was more of Robidas going after Tootoo while he was on the ground and then Tootoo spotting that and did a spinning punch. It's not like Tootoo punched him behind.
Man I took both in the jaw in my life.
A gloved hand punch feels like you have been hit with a brick compared to a normal fist punch.
