Leafs crumble in the 3rd.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have blown a 4-1 lead and saw the Buffalo Sabres score 4 unanswered goals to steal the game 5-4. Thomas Vanek, Daniel Brière, Jason Pominville and Drew Stafford (game winning goal) scored inside a 9 minute span of the 3rd period to complete the Buffalo comeback. The Leafs missed a nice opportunity to tie the 8th place Carolina Hurricanes.
The Buffalo Sabres now have 103 points and are ranked 1st overall in the NHL.
*Oilers stop their losing streak at 12*
The Edmonton Oilers have finally won a game without Ryan Smyth. Since trading Smyth in February, the Oilers were caught in a downward spiral. They defeated the Colorado Avalanche 4-3 in the shootout session. Their nightmare is now over.
