Bruins are in the cables.

Tonight the Montreal Canadiens can finish off the Boston Bruins, a team that is reeling and will be definatly out of the playoff picture with a loss tonight. The Habs have won 4 of their last 5 games and have kept their chances alive.

The team is in a 3-way tie with the Toronto Maple Leafs and the defending Stanley Cup champs Carolina Hurricanes with 80 points, good for 8th place of the NHL Eastern conference.

Unless a huge surprise, Jaroslav Halak will once again be in net for Montreal. In his last start, Halak has registered his first NHL shutout in career with a superb performance against those same Bruins.

This is a golden opportunity for the Habs to score points as they will face very tough opposition next week. They cannot afford to drop such an occasion. Here is the Eastern conference playoff race as of today:

6 TAMPA BAY 74 40 30
4 84 230 232
7 NY RANGERS 74 37 28
9 83 215 196
8 CAROLINA 73 36 29
8 80 215 217

9 TORONTO 73 35 28
10 80 224 236
10 MONTREAL 74 37 31
6 80 215 231
11 NY ISLANDERS 72 34 27
11 79 217 212

I did a post on what I thought Montreal to do. I expect them to have a winning streak and then lose their last 5 games if they stay with Halak. I think Halak will be a great goalie but he's young in the sense that his play slowly deteriorates in consecutive starts.

I see a young Thomas Vokoun. I will only say that. Mirror image.

He's 21 and the best talent available period. So until Huet makes it he's the only option. I do not want to see Aebisher one more second.

Ryder scores. 6-3 Montreal, bye bye Boston.

Byeeeee! Until the next one!

I know you don't want to see Abby but for a young guy Abby is the key to it all for a sustained long run. Ward doesn't have his run with Gerber relieving the pressure once inawhile last year.

I don't see a Vokoun. That glove hand is unique, it's more like a mix between Janie Hurme and someone else. I haven't seen him enough like the Leafs to say.
