Rogers cup: semifinals.

The semifinals of the Rogers cup will take place at the Uniprix stadium in Montreal today.

Yesterday evening, the central court was sold out for the quarterfinal match between Rafael Nadal and the canadian Frank Dancevic. The young Dancevic pushed Rafael Nadal to his limits during the match. In order to win, Nadal really had to raise his playing level. Nadal finally won the match in three exciting sets of 4-6, 6-2 and 6-3.

The turning point of the match happened during the second set as Nadal saved 7 break points, every time using all of his talent, power and experience. Frank Dancevic can be proud of his performances this week. The last canadian to ever appear in the quarterfinals at the canadian open was Andrew Sznajder back in 1989.

Rafael Nadal will face Novak Djokovic in his semifinal match. Djokovic defeated Andy Roddick yesterday in two sets of 7-6 (7-3) and 6-4.

The other semifinal will oppose Roger Federer who defeated Lleyton Hewitt by 6-3 and 6-4 in his quarterfinal match to Radek Stepanek who defeated Nikolay Davydenko by 6-4 and 7-5.

We could witness another Federer-Nadal battle tomorrow for the final.
