Rogers Cup: tournament opens.
The 2007 Rogers Cup presented in Montreal at the Uniprix stadium began yesterday in a very rainy monday morning. The heavy rain lasted at least two hours, completely freezing the tournament until noon. Matches were completed during the afternoon and already a few seeded players like Thomas Berdych are already eliminated from the tournament.
As for the best canadian hope, Frank Dancevic (now ranked 91st in the world after his appearance in final at Indianapolis) has won his first round match yesterday in three sets of 6-4, 3-6 and 6-3 over Manuel Del Potro, ranked 75th on the ATP tour.
Dancevic will face Wayne Odesnik in the second round. Odesnik is a qualified player who defeated Ivan Ljubicic the 11th seeded player of the tournament yesterday.
