Federer misses his rendez-vous with history.

Roger Federer has lost his 2nd round match at the Indian Wells tournament and missed the opportunity to rewrite the tennis record book. His winning streak ended at 41 straight matches.

The record book for most matches won in a row: Guillermo Vilas (46), Ivan Lendl (44), John McEnroe (42), Bjorn Borg and Roger Federer (41).

Federer had won his last 7 tournaments, only one short of the record (8) shared by Bjorn Borg and Ivan Lendl.

An opportunity like this does not come very often in a player career. Maybe Roger missed his best chance to own the record book and will never have this chance ever again.
