World Junior Hockey Championships: semifinals.

Today we will know the identity of the two teams who will be fighting for the gold medal this weekend as the semifinals of the World Junior Hockey Championships will be played today.

In the first semifinal, Canada will face the USA who are still undefeated in the competition. After some mediatic turmoil concerning the canadian goaltender to be used for the semifinal, canadian head coach Craig Hartsburg did not change his mind and will send Steve Mason between the pipes. Mason's problems during the quarterfinal match versus Finland heated the discussion as many were suggesting the choice of Jonathan Bernier to play the semifinal match for Canada.

This will be without a doubt the biggest match in Steve Mason's career.

The other semifinal match scheduled today will oppose Russia and Sweden. Sweden is also still undefeated in this tournament while Russia only lost to the americans during the lenght of the tournament.
