The savior is back!

After being sidelined for a month, Alexei Kovalev was back in the lineup yesterday and made his presence felt against the best team in the league. The Montreal Canadiens have won only 3 of the 12 games that he missed.

Down 3-0 in the 2nd period, the Kovalev show started... Kovalev got 2 assists on the first 2 goals (grabbing his 700th point in the NHL) and then scored himself the tying goal (his 300th career goal). With that goal at the announce of his 300th the crowd gave Alexei Kovalev a huge standing ovation.

But that wasn`t all... the game went in overtime, which didn`t solve the 3-3 tie. So a shootout was necessary.

Ottawa`s Dany Heatley was stopped by Montreal`s goaltender. Pierre Dagenais scored for Montreal. 1-0.
Then Daniel Alfredsson went and missed the net. The table was set for Montreal`s 2nd shooter...you guessed it...Alexei Kovalev. He sure didn`t missed this opportunity and scored the goal that ended the game.

A five star performance.
